New magazine for Nairobi launched
Mondeas Ltd – the content factory, today unveils UP – “Nairobi’s Urban Perspective” – a new magazine on Nairobi life, art, culture, business and design from East Africa’s metropolitan hub. “We aim to produce a sophisticated editorial product that says ‘What’s UP’ on Nairobi’s ‘cosmopolitan-ness’ and goes ‘deep tissue’ on important regional issues,” says Rand Pearson, UP’s editorial and creative director. “We’re not just a Nairobi magazine; we’re an African magazine at the heart of one of its pulsating urban centres. UP is the face of the emerging global tribe, right here in Nairobi.”
“Each issue of UP magazine will feature everything that makes Nairobi cool, its happenings, its art, culture, fashion, its business, its music, its language of design and yes, even its issues,” says Ken Teyie, UP’s Managing Editor. In ‘UP Town’ the magazine shines light on Nairobi’s trends and trendsetters. ‘U People’ is all about Nairobi urbanites and how they are making the city a better place in which to thrive.
‘Up Next’ features the next big thing. ‘Urban Presence’ gives a point of view about what makes our city resonate—to ourselves and to the outside world. ‘UP Most’ is the section that takes current issues head on and sparks spirited debate. Also in the magazine is ‘Urban Punch’, featuring exciting young talent of local photographer Jim Chuchu, fiction by Al Kags and commentary by media maven, Oyunga Pala.
Coming free with the inaugural issue of UP magazine is Concierge Kenya, a luxury-lifestyle information magazine presenting the best of Kenyan luxury. “The CK brand presents a unique opportunity for A-class products and services to use CK’s lifestyle network to reach the emerging mass-affluent market in East Africa,” says Sapna Chandaria, Mondeas Operations Director. “The main aim of this brand is to consolidate service providers and vendors of luxury goods and services – all under one roof – essentially becoming a bespoke supplier of any combination of these luxury goods and services.”
